About the role

The overall goal of the Save the Children Vanuatu Education Program is to support children and young people in Vanuatu to learn the skills and knowledge they need to thrive and meet their potential.

The Education program is working towards strategic outcomes for basic education, education in emergencies, early childhood education and education for youth empowerment.



The School Disaster Management Project Officer will:

- Support the planning and implementation of activities in Save the Children’s School Disaster Management Project.

- Assist in the development of project Information, Education and Communication materials.

- Coordinate and deliver training and field activities with schools Ministry of Education staff including collection of data for monitoring and evaluation.

Criteria:

- Ability to maintain consistent high levels of professional behaviour and achievement when working independently or as part of a team; Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with fluency in English

and Bislama. French language skills also highly desirable; Strong time management, administrative and organisational skills

- Strong competence in IT skills, with a high degree of familiarity with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or other relevant software packages; Ability to plan and organise self and others and logistics to ensure the timely

completion of tasks while working in a fast paced environment and to strict deadlines

- Ability to work in complex/multi-cultural environments; Experience in generating materials used to inform, educate or communicate specific messages to sections of the public, using written words, images, multimedia

or video; Qualification in a relevant discipline (Education, Development Studies, Social Sciences) essential.
