We are looking for a Project Manager position to join our Gender Equality team based in Port Vila. The position may require national and international travel.
The Project Manager will work to manage gender equality projects in support of national capacity development, specifically the ‘Increasing women and girls voice in the humanitarian sector: The localisation of the Vanuatu Gender & Protection Cluster project funded by UN Women. The purpose of this project is to increase the number of ni-Vanuatu and other Pacific women & girls from the community, local government and CSOs who have the confidence and skills to participate in emergency preparedness and response efforts. He or she is responsible to ensure that the delivery of the project is effective and efficient against agreed work plans and budgets. The position will also coordinate all aspects of work with the Gender and Protection Cluster (including representing CARE as co-lead) covered under different projects, currently including Gender Equality Together and Leftemap Sista II, both supported by the Australian aid program.
Your major responsibilities will be varied and will include:
  • Overall management of the Increasing women and girls voice in the humanitarian sector: The localisation of the Vanuatu Gender & Protection Cluster project funded by UN Women. This includes all narrative and financial planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
  • Coordinating work with the Gender and Protection Cluster as well as national level capacity strengthening work on gender.
  • Developing and sustaining effective partnerships.
  • Providing general technical support across the Gender Equality program of CARE Vanuatu.

            Criteria:
            Required qualifications and skills:
            • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Social studies, Gender studies (or equivalent) and/or minimum 5-7 years relevant work experience, preferably in community based development work and/or activity implementation with an International Non-Government Organisation (INGO)
            • Proven experience in project management
            • Proven experience developing and delivering gender capacity strengthening initiatives
            • Proven knowledge and experience working on gender equality and especially Gender in Emergencies (GiE)
            • Professional  communication in Bislama and excellent English (French would be an asset)
            • Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills, including the ability to plan and manage workflows and balance competing priorities to ensure timely processing to meet deadlines in a complex environment
            • Ability to develop high quality, concise reports and submission with accuracy
            • Demonstrated decision making, problem solving, planning, analytical and influencing skills
            • Strong representational skills including developing and maintaining networks and relationships with key  stakeholders
            • Proven ability to work safely and effectively with communities and vulnerable groups including at risk youth and children
            • Fully conversant in Office applications, keyboard/data entry and numeracy skills
            • Demonstrated passion for gender equality and women’s empowerment and a commitment to CARE’s approach and values including ethnic diversity and cultural sensitivity.
