The Media and Communications Officer reports to the Marketing Manager and General Manager and will be the

VTO Head Offices primary contact for media related enquiries. Responsibilities:

• Developing and coordinating travel itineraries for visiting international print and broadcast media (and travel trade where required) in accordance with current VTO marketing strategies.

• Responsible for the operational logistics of media familiarizations on location throughout Vanuatu, escorting media families where required.

• Negotiating with the tourism industry on rates to maximize the cost benefit and experience of each media familiarization.

• Collecting, verifying and selecting adequate information about Vanuatu’s tourism product and activities in the form of press releases to local media and VTO’s PR and International Representatives (rewritten to suit local content and distribution in respective markets.

• Liaising regularly with VTO’s Overseas Representatives and Public Relations Rep on the development of a media plan to ensure regular press is being produced on Vanuatu, and assist with press releases that highlight Vanuatu in a positive manner.

• Production of weekly and monthly e-news letter; Providing advice to internal and external stakeholders on the development of consumer advertising activities, campaigns and VTO media strategy in line with Vanuatu’s overall marketing plan

• Assisting with additional marketing activities as directed by the Marketing Manager.
