    Applications are invited for the position of Chief Executive Officer of Air Vanuatu (Operations) Limited. The position will be base at Air Vanuatu House, Port Vila and will report directly to the Board of Directors. Air Vanuatu is the National carrier of the republic and plays a pivotal role in supporting national development, particularly tourism. As such, the CEO position has an extreme level of responsibility in providing necessary leadership in the daily management of the airline. The successful candidate will manage the business through an essential restructuring program, whilst maintaining the airline’s core values of Safety, Quality, Service, Reputation and Financial responsibility. It is also essential to continue to enhance aggressive cost reduction and revenue enhancement strategies.  

          Criteria:
          • A tertiary qualification in the area of Business Management, with a particular focus on Airline Industry or a related discipline.
          • A minimum of 10 years experience in executive management of a large business or customer focused enterprise.
          • A comprehensive and sound understanding of airline business finance.
          • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
          • Ability to represent both the airline and country at all level of Government both nationally and abroad.
          • Ability to lead and motivate a small management team for successful business outcomes.
          • A proven ability to quickly evaluate and implement a best cost benefit restructure.
          • Be of the highest ethical standard and demonstrate adherence to the leadership codes and all aspects of good governance, Vanuatu Law and Aviation protocols.
          • Ability to hold passport, Driver’s License and Airside access, including passes in Criminal History Checks and politically motivated behavior checks, persons of interest checks and all other aviation security checks as deemed appropriate.
          • Be in a state of good health and sound mind, and able to work a variety of hours to match business requirements.
          • A full and thorough understanding of all aspects of aviation, both internally and internationally.
          • Ability to hold the airline’s A.O.C (Airline Operator Certificate), as an approved person through CAAV requirements.
          • Cultural awareness and sensitivity to differences both nationally and abroad.
          • Regularly prepare and deliver a variety of Financial, Operational and Strategic reports to the Board of Directors, and Shareholders where appropriate.
          • Extensive command of English, French, and Bislama.

                            The Government of Vanuatu is currently addressing the repair and rehabilitation of existing water supply infrastructures damaged during Tropical Cyclone Pam in March of 2015.  The destruction caused by TC Pam and, the drought associated with the current El Nino conditions/ event have  resulted in water shortages on many islands of the archipelago. 
                            The TC Pam Recovery project under the Department of Geology, Mines and Water Resources is committed to repair and re-build better water systems to increase community resilience to impacts of climatic variability and, natural hazards to ensure water security.
                            The development of a three-point plan was required to provide a strategic response to the pressing and longer-term water security needs of the people of Vanuatu.  The three elements of this plan are interrelated and indivisible, and will be rolled out in parallel, and they include:
                            • Emergency response to El Nino drought conditions

                            • Additional and alternative construction of water supply
