We are seeking expressions of interest for:

One (1) Health & Nutrition Officer for Efate. This is a 12 months contract on full-time basis (with expectation of renewal annually if funding approved). 

Where you come in:
Reporting to the Health Technical Advisor, you will be primarily responsible for:
  • Providing support to daily activities related to the Nutrition activities and program planning
  • Provide technical assistance on the integration of nutrition across programs in SC sectors.
  • Collaborate with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and other agencies in accomplishing the SC objectives, including policy and strategic development, program and project planning, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of nutrition activities.
  • Work closely with field teams to ensure timely follow up after trainings and ensure positive nutrition behaviours are retained
  • Work collaboratively with other SC community mobilisers to implement health programs in the provinces.
You will make an impact by:
  • Assisting in the design of national/provincial baseline assessment to understand the current level of awareness and knowledge on nutrition
  • Contribute to the creation and promotion of awareness campaigns, design strategic communication on nutrition to target populations as well as to general population
  • Provide technical input to National Nutrition working group, contribute to National policy and strategy, standardise a set of tools and approaches to address the needs at the community level
  • Support implementation to various projects within SC.

……you have 3 to 5 years’ experience in a related field, you have knowledge coupled with practical skills in community development interventions, including previous experience of liaising with a range of people including community leaders, knowledge on nutrition, specifically as they relate to Vanuatu, including the existing networks, Government Departments and NGOs, understanding working with different age groups, levels of literacy and cultural backgrounds and practical experience in working with children and youth.  Knowledge of Information, Education and Communication Materials design and experience in a training or education based role.

  • Ability to build the capacity of others through training and coaching, designed to develop skills, knowledge and abilities
  • Ability to use participatory approaches during facilitation to ensure training objectives are achieved
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills in both Bislama and English and is able to clearly communicate resilience issues to different stakeholders
  • Ability to plan and organise self and others to ensure the timely completion of tasks while working in a fast paced environment and to strict deadlines.

  • Work collaboratively with other SC community mobilisers to implement health programs in the provinces.

  • Excellent facilitation skills

Job Description:
A  number of Industry Working Groups (IWGs) have been established in Vanuatu to promote public/private sector partnership on export development in the agricultural sector including kava, cocoa and livestock.  The Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) is now seeking to engage a citizen for the position of Export Industry Coordinator to progress development of these IWGs into representative and sustainable industry bodies, and to  assist in  relevant activities to assist in export industry growth.

Key responsibilities in this role include:
  • Providing secretarial support and coordinating capacity building for the industry groups
  • Assisting with development of industry strategies, activity plans and budgets
  • Promoting the coordination role of industry groups to stakeholders
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between IWG members, VCCI and other industry stakeholders, government and development partners
  • With reference to national and sectoral policy frameworks and relevant industry environments provide strategic guidance on development of the IWGs into sustainable and representative industry bodies
  • Identify capacity building needs of the different IWGs and coordinate technical assistance inputs
  • Assist industry groups to progress development of co-financing arrangements, with private sector, government and relevant development programmes.
Criteria:
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
  • A tertiary level degree
  • Prior work experience in the fields of private sector development, business, trade or agriculture would be preferable
  • Excellent communication skills including a high level of proficiency in oral and written English and Bislama (proficiency in French would also be desirable)
  • Good analytical and research skills
  • Sound skills in office administration, including proficiency in relevant computer applications
  • Good understanding of the productive sector, and business and trade environments
  • Ability to plan, organize and conduct IWG and MAWG meetings in Santo and outer islands of Vanuatu
  • Ability to plan and coordinate activities effectively with team members and with external stakeholders
  • Ability to provide timely and accurate reporting
  • Ability to develop and implement activity work plans within associated budgets

The Kolisen Blong Leftemap Edukeson (KOBLE) is a national coalition of civil society organisations with the aim of engaging the Government of Vanuatu and other stakeholders on national education policy, to help ensure that all ni-Vanuatu have access to good quality and inclusive publically provided education. The program's office is located in Port Vila.
The selected Finance Officer will report to the KOBLE Coordinator and Board, and will:
  • Maintain the financial records of KOBLE and its programs, including payment of accounts, salaries, tax and VNPF and preparations of bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Produce expense acquittals against budgets 
  • Produce quarterly financial reports and prepare for KOBLE’s internal and external audits
  • Produce financial summaries and reconciliations as required
  • Help maintain office information management systems
  • Assist the Coordinator in administration matters as required.
          Criteria:
          The successful applicant will:
          • Have strong experience and demonstrable skills in using MYOB and Excel packages. A qualification in MYOB is highly desirable
          • Have experience in maintaining office and program financial records including payment of accounts, salaries, tax and superannuation and VNPF lodgments, bank and credit card reconciliations
          • Be able to undertake expense acquittals against budgets, produce financial reports and reconciliations and prepare for the annual audit
          • Have experience in an office environment including skills in information management, Microsoft Word, internet use
          • Have demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
          • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, show initiative and will have the ability to work as part of a small team.
