Job Description:

The Vanuatu Association of Non Government Organizations (VANGO) is inviting application for the position for the ACT Coordinator. VANGO has over 100 members throughout Vanuatu, and this membership is comprised of organizations from a variety of fields, representing a broad range of NGOs and community based organizations. These members of

VANGO represent the views and voices of a diverse group within both rural and urban setting such as women, youths, people with disabilities, workers and trainers who are located throughout Vanuatu.



As with the other coalitions established within VANGO over the years, Action for CEDAW Today (ACT) is an issue-based coalition embracing women and men from all walks of life and offering them the space to raise issues of concern to term in relation to the rights of women and the 16 core articles of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of

All forms of Discrimination Against Women (UNCEDAW).



The ACT Coordinator will work 5 days a week on normal working hours starting from 7:30 to 4:30pm with a Lunch break which is an hour and a half from 12noon – 1:30pm. Further information can be requested from the email or contact number provided below.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1) Organize monthly seminars and meetings for the CEDAW Watch Group

2) Work on activities accordingly to the work plan for 2012

3) Communicate to ACT members through the ACT Google Groups using the official ACT email address vango_act@vanuatu.com.vu

4) Maintain a record and track on all financial expenditures of the project

5) Attending meetings which ACT is committed to and other meetings to represent VANGO upon request from the Secretary General

6) Writing of activity reports to VANGO Secretary General and the donors on request

7) Submit Media articles and press releases on seminars and workshops conducted.

Interested applicant must possess the following:

Criteria:

- Tertiary Qualification preferably on Gender and human rights; Must have 5 years experience working on a leadership role; Have basic understanding of CEDAW/ACT; Understand the cultural values

and general norms of woman in Vanuatu; Mature and well respected in the society, church and or community

- Be able to analyze situations and resolve conflicts; Must be able to demonstrate the ability to make sound judgments and constructive decisions; Must be able to work as a team member; Must be

able to meet datelines

- Good communication skills with high level of spoken and written english and bislama with french as necessary; Be computer literate; Be able to travel to other island or overseas when required;

Report writing skills.

Salary:

Salary package for this position is Monthly VT124, 800 including VNPF
