| | Job Description: |
| | CARE International in Vanuatu is looking for 2 (two) field officers to join their Community Based Adaptation project team. The project is working with communities on Futuna island in the areas of livelihood, food security, and disaster risk reduction. This position will require working in both Port Vila and Futuna Island. |
| | Duties and responsibilities: |
| | 1) Support the vulnerability assessment process on Futuna island |
| | 2) Develop and implement activities to improve food security based on sustainable agricultural practices |
| | 3) Promotion and integration of cross cutting issues including gender and disaster risk reduction (DRR) |
| | 4) Support community facilitation |
| | 5) Support project documentation, including monitoring and evaluation |
| | 6) Networking and liaising with a diverse range of stakeholders including village communities, NGOs, key government technical agencies such as the Department of Agriculture and the Farmers Association. |
| | Interested applicant must possess the following: |
| | Criteria: |
| | - Preferable diploma or degree in Agriculture, Environment or related field; At least 2 years experience working on livelihoods, food security, environment or climate change, preferably in an NGO or |
| | government agency |
| | - Understanding of community based development work and/or activity implementation; Proficient in English, written and verbal |
| | - Excellent communication, facilitation and report writing skills; Computer skills, including Word and Excel; Willingness to travel between Port Vila and Futuna island |
| | - Demonstrated understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment and a commitment to CARE’s approach and values including diversity and cultural sensitivity. |
