About the role

Save the Children Australia in Vanuatu Program aims to achieve positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people in the areas of health and well-being, child rights and child protection. We advocate on behalf of children and promote the rights of the child.

The Child Protection Project Manager will:

• Ensure the successful implementation of the Save the Children Vanuatu’s Child Protection Program and the delivery of planned outcomes in line with the Government of Vanuatu’s Child Protection priorities and the Save the Children Vanuatu Child Protection Strategy.

• Provide technical support and capacity building in the management, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Child Protection Programs.

• Ensure Child Protection programming and policy is integrated across all Save the Children Vanuatu programs including Health, Education, Youth, and Emergency response.

The position is on a contract basis and Save the Children is currently negotiating funding for a 2 year Child Protection Program in collaboration. A funding decision will be made in the coming weeks. If the project is funded we will require a strong and experienced Child Protection professional to lead the program implementation which is due to start from October 1st 2014.

Criteria:

• Proven Child Protection program design, implementation and monitoring experience in a developing country context.

• Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in the application of Child Protection and Child Rights programming and rights based approaches to development.

• Sound knowledge and experience in use of the development program cycle, desirable.

• Proven ability to liaise with key stakeholders on Child Protection.

• Sound knowledge of the convention on the Rights of the Child and Child Protection legislation.

• Proven experience facilitating meaningful child participation.

• Experience in participatory community development methodologies, desirable.

• Experience in the development and implementation of advocacy strategies, desirable.

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.

• Qualifications in Project Management or similar.
