        Criteria:
        We are looking for a WASH Officer (Technician) to join our team based in Tanna, Tafea Province with travel to Tafea Outer Islands.

        The WASH Officer is responsible for assisting with the technical implementation of water and sanitation activities. The successful candidate would have experience working on rural water supply systems and sanitation facilities in Vanuatu. A technical background in plumbing, civil works, and/or construction is necessary and the candidate should have the skills to ensure that women, young people, older people, and people with disabilities participate in and are involved in decision making around water and sanitation issues. The role involves working in a team and coordination with government, community, and other WASH organizations in Tafea Province. 

        Required qualification and skills
        • Good qualification with Technical skills in plumbing, civil engineering, or construction
        • Experience implementing WASH projects and activities
        • Strong communication skills
        • Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to the particular needs of women and other marginalized people in WASH
        • Demonstrated ability to take direction and to work as part of a team
        • Ability to work well under pressure and in response to changing needs
        • Written and oral fluency in English and Bislama required; Tanna local languages strongly preferred
        • Ability to work independently and efficiently
        • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
        • Willingness to be based in Tanna and travel to the outer islands.
