About the Utilities Regulatory Authority
The URA was established under the Utilities Regulatory Authority Act No. 11 of 2007. The Authority acts independently of the Government and its primary purpose is to increase access to safe, reliable and affordable electricity and water services, and to promote the long-term interests of consumers throughout Vanuatu. In addition, the Authority assists to resolve consumer complaints and disputes and advises the Government on matters related to electricity and water. It also reviews tariffs under the rules of the Concessions Agreements and relevant legislation.

Job Description:
The Utilities Regulatory Authority (“the URA”) is seeking to recruit a Senior economist in utility regulation

The URA is seeking to engage an individual to the position of Senior economist - utility regulation. 
Criteria:

Successful candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or Advanced degree in economics or business management from an accredited recognized institution
  • 3 years of relevant professional experience as business and economic analyst in a business, Government or Non-Government Organisation where the candidate has proven his/her capabilities in economic and financial analysis
  • Demonstrated team skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Fluency in written and spoken English and Bislama is a requirement. A working knowledge of French is an advantage.
Ni-Vanuatu (Citizen) and qualified International experts with required experience and background may apply.

Candidates with advanced degree and higher levels of experience will be given preference and suitable compensation

    Salary:

    The remuneration for this position will be commensurate with qualifications, experience and relevant background.
